Racing For Children's Health Brings Death Before Krispy Kremes

Ever since Philippedes of Marathon ran to Athens to announce another Persian defeat
To exclaim “Joy to you for you have won,”  only to collapse and die at the Athenians feet
Running a race especially for one not in shape can be a game of risk, a game of chance
Where the runner may suddenly feel the sharp pains of the cardiac attack lance
Be it a marathon or a short race of but 5 miles
No one is certain that the exertion will not the heart attack dial
In Raleigh to raise funds for a children’s hospital cause
Krispy Kreme Challenge was held and for one runner too soon he had to withdraw
Chest pains after a mile hit his 58 year old chest with a full head of steam
Never got to enjoy at the half way mark a dozen Krispy Kremes
Prayers to the family as no one in a perfect world should die raising money to children’s diseases eject
But the world is not perfect and cardiac weakness in this case may have been too hard to detect
